Paddle with a Purpose with Olentangy Paddle
Olentangy Paddle is proud to offer a fundraising program this season for non-profit organizations and groups that want to paddle with a purpose!
How does it work?
Any group of 10 or more people are eligible for this program. Just fill out the form below that includes a time, date, and route for your Paddle Outing and we'll get back to you about availability. We will set up a registration website for your group, let you review and approve it and then, your group can begin registering for a day of fun!
Paddlers can simply paddle and be part of the fun, or they can ask others to pledge them for each mile they paddle with a purpose, with funds going towards a project, event, or group. Each paddler must register through our site if they are renting (see below) or wish to collect donations.
How can I get a boat and equipment?
A boat, life jacket, and paddle is offered as one of the registration options. You can also bring your own equipment, or become a virtual paddler and paddle on another date or in another location. All your pledges will still go to the charity of your choice.
We have a over 25 kayaks of varying sizes, suitable for kids, ages 8-80. We have a few canoes as well, but keep in mind that during many times of the year, central Ohio rivers are low and canoes drag much more than kayaks do.
Is instruction included in our Paddle with a Purpose outing?
We offer a comprehensive safety and paddling stroke instruction by ACA-certified instructors that takes place on land and lasts about 20-30 minutes. Once we get in the water, instructors will be with you to help you get the hang of things. Keep in mind that we never run when the levels are higher than an average adult's waist, making it safe for everyone - even if you cannot swim (just stand up)!
Are there fees?
To cover administration costs and fees we are charged through our registration website, we charge approximately 10% (+ boat rental fees, when applicable).
